Here is a snippet of my Philadelphia 76ers 2014-15 season preview from CelticsBlog.com, which is part of SBNation’s annual season preview project.
X-FACTOR – Nerlens Noel
This season probably isn’t going to go much differently than what went down a year ago, and the 2014-15 regular season will be used as a developmental period for their young core. The most intriguing piece is Nerlens Noel, who missed the entire 2013-14 season as he recovered from a torn ACL.Noel has a chance to become a game changer, especially on the defensive end of the floor. If he can show signs of working towards reaching his sky high potential, it could change the outlook of the season to a certain degree. Don’t be surprised if Noel is one of the first names mentioned in this season’s Rookie of the Year race.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2014-15
It’s no secret that the Sixers could very well end up the worst team in the NBA this season. Philly fans know what to expect, it’s going to be another tough year filled with a lot of growing pains. However, a young core of Carter-Williams, Noel, Embiid and their 2015 lottery pick is very promising and exciting to look forward to.PREDICTED STANDINGS
5th – Atlantic Division
15th – Eastern Conference
